Eridan’s tinted eyes scan him empty dorm. He was sort of lonely and missed his friends. They seemed to all be rather busy lately. Of course, he always had his pet fishy to cheer him up. Grabbing the remote off of kar-kitten’s headstand. After letting the crap tv warm up and the screen fade to a solid blue, he slid his newly discover favorite band, flogging Molly,’s new cd into the DVD player. Soon the empty room was filled with the noise of an Irish voice singing about the light of a fading star. Eridan, remote still in hand, pumped up the volumes bit before stripping down to his aquarium-print underpants. Waves erupted in pet fishy’s bowl as Eridan dance (quite humorously) around his room. Just as he was really getting into the groove of things he trip over a chord. Curse Dave and his million cords draping across the room. Eridan heard the door opening just as he began to struggle with the cord around his ankle. This would be embarrassing… [open post]

Jade found it a very silly coincidence that her Secret Santa also happened to be her boyfriend. She liked it, though! It made her gift giving a little more exciting! Albeit she didn’t really know what a Secret Santa was and had to look it up beforehand. The downsides of growing up on an island by yourself, she supposed!
Before she entered Eridan, Dave, and Karkat’s dorm room Jade made sure the coast was clear. The last thing she wanted to do was get caught in the act of breaking and entering and ruin the surprise!
The gift was a purple Betta Fish. She had planned on buying something else for Eridan as a Christmas gift as well, but Jade figured he would appreciate something sea-dwelling to liven up his part of the dorm.
To her relief, no one was there. Not even Dave. She missed him again.
She tiptoed inside and placed the small fish bowl on his nightstand. It had a big purple bow atop it and came with a package of fish food that would last for quite a while.
In her bubbly, swirly handwriting, Jade left a small note beside it.
With that, she whirled around on her heels to leave.
Eridan struggled with the key to his door from just a moment, then pushed his way through the entry, flicking on the light before tossing his book bag to the ground next to his bed.
Then, something caught his eye. He whirled his head to face his nightstand and raised a brow, flopping onto his stomach and inching closer to the bowl. Eyes following the water dwelling creature drifting around inside of it.
It was absolutely adorabubble.
He sat up quickly and spun his finger around in the top of the water. The little fish swam up and nibbled at the edge of his finger, bringing a small smile to his thin lips. He begin to pull the brilliant bow away and found the note with the bright green writing on it…

so it was a boy fishy. well, it was only appropriate that he was given a name now.
“So fishy, w-what do I call you?”
The fish continued to drift around its bowl absent mindedly. Eridan raised a brow at him.
“Fine. I don’t need your help any wuh-way”
Eridan then had the perfect idea, since his fishy friend wouldn’t cooperate, he would name him after the mermaid in that human Disney movie that had been growing on him. His gaze and an awful sneer found its way to the fish.
“Hello there, My little Ariel!”
Eridan mocked her movement with the lifting and opening the foldy thing and returned her smile with a toothy grin, baring his pointed teeth and slight fangs. He noticed a select few pictures and lots of English writing. It was all shades of yellow and brown, which he couldn’t help but be partially disgusted by.
Oh gog , he realized he must look like a total idiot staring down the foldy thing like it was some hideous creature.
Quickly he glanced away from his foldy thing and up at Jade you was contently looking over her own foldy thing. He smiled as she mentioned how yummy everything looked. He nodded slightly, having been taken over by a dazy expression. He watched as her glasses slid slightly when had perked up to smile and speak to him. Withholding any sort of reluctance he slid his arm across the table, offering his hand to her, still propping up the foldy device with the other.
“Yeah.. Everything looks wonderful..”
He knew he wasn’t exactly talking about the images in the foldy thing, as his eyes were still transfixed on Jade.
[Jade giggled and took Eridan’s hand, giving it a light squeeze as she continued browsing her options for breakfast. She was definitely having a hankering for some pancakes, so that was that… but for a side! So many options! Should she go with hashbrowns? Sausage? Fruit? All three, perhaps?
She didn’t exactly care about how much she ate in front of Eridan. A hungry girl is a hungry girl is a hungry girl!
Jade’s smile widened as she met Eridan’s eyes again.]
I think I know what I want! Do you?!
The corner of Eridan’s mouth curved upward as their eyes met. Hers were as bright and beautiful as always..
He wasn’t sure how but somehow she always managed to look so cheerful! He realized he was staring and quickly darted his eyes over the the condiments on the table.
“Wuh-Whale I am still hawin’ some trouble decidin’, w-would you help me choose?”
Perfect. Now he wouldn’t look like an imbecile when it came to Jade’s culture’s breakfast delicacies. Instead, he would just appear a little indecisive, but.. It was a small enough sacrifice.
Eridan gave her hand a tight squeeze as the were being seated by the waiter. He may have noticed sooner that she was clinging to him tighter suddenly, if he hadn’t been blushing from the public kiss on the cheek.
He had never really been kissed.. like, In front of people.
“I lowe you too, Jade.”
He felt his body gradually shifting away from Jade’s, reluctantly as he did so. Following the slight separation he slid into the seat and eyed the tall folding parchment in front of him. Dining-out like this wasn’t exactly common place on Alternia and he wasn’t sure what to make of the thing. He decided to glance up at Jade and see what she did with the foldy thing.
[Jade sat across from Eridan, looking around at everyone. They all seemed to be minding their own business, which partly relieved her. She took the napkin from in front of her and unfolded it to place on her lap.
She smiled at Eridan before picking up a menu to look through.
Her eyes lit up and she bit her lower lip in excitement at all of the delicious, different options for her to choose from.]

They now stood on the sidewalk in front of a diner with a title Eridan would eventually forget as it was just one of those simple-town diners that some how, against all odds, made enough money on their “home-cooked” food to get by. The scent drifting from the diner was quick to fill Eridan’s nostrils and he held back any expression of distaste. He would enjoy today no matter what he put down his protein chute.
“Thanks- It means more than you know-wuh to hear you sayin’ that. It kind a giwes me a sort a w-warm feelin’, an I seem to get these w-warm feelin’s a lot wuh-when I am w-with you.”
With a gentle smile planted firmly on his blushing purple face he wrapped an arm around Jade and pulled her a little closer to his side. He allowed his arm to rest on her farther hip and began covering the short distance to the entry.
[Jade smiled happily and contentedly as she and Eridan entered the diner. She leaned up and kissed his cheek.]
I get really warm feelings when I’m with you, too. I love you, Eridan!
[Jade inhaled and let out a sigh at the smell of the food overwhelming her. She couldn’t wait to eat a wonderfully hot breakfast. When they walked in, she looked around at all of the people and couldn’t help but cling to Eridan a bit tighter. It was new for her, and she was anxious.]
Eridan gave her hand a tight squeeze as the were being seated by the waiter. He may have noticed sooner that she was clinging to him tighter suddenly, if he hadn’t been blushing from the public kiss on the cheek.
